Meet the Artist: Jade
Jade Robin is the proud owner of and artist behind Otter Mage Designs.
Since 2007, Jade has been producing and selling her original art, fandom designs, and custom works throughout the U.S. and now in Japan. Jade has always had a passion for art, learning, travel, and animals. She enjoys helping other people power their Twitch streams through fun emotes and learn how to sell their art, create manga, and explore their creative interests through conventions, panels, and her online community. Her favorite animals are otters!
About the Art
As a traditionally trained artist, Jade knows that picking the right tools for the job is essential to producing high quality art.
Since 2018, Jade has been producing her art digitally on a Surface Pro tablet with a Heiyo stylus pen in Clip Studio Paint.
Her process includes sketching, inking, and coloring each piece in Clip Studio Paint at 300 DPI using vector graphics. This ensures clear, crisp art when required. When a softer approach is required, Jade breaks out the custom brushes! Once the art is finished, Jade downscales the file to the appropriate dimensions and performs a color check on her View Sonic IPS monitor, which is optimized for print color matching, using Affinity Photo to guarantee every piece is print ready.
Jade works closely with her vendors to ensure that every piece is printed with impeccable color on high quality materials, and, when available, recyclable, eco-friendly, and archival quality materials. Even if you plan to self-print your commission, Jade is willing to offer advice regarding paper, inks, and settings to help you get the closest reproduction possible.
