Redesigning Tiffany for Game Over Level 8
Tiffany’s Game Over Level 8 redesign was less about changing the character and more about finally having the artistic skill to draw her the way I originally imagined her.
She first appeared during the Left2Die arc, Game Over’s zombie FPS spoof. Her personality hasn’t changed much since then. She’s still loud, competitive, confident, and designed around the tsundere archetype.
What changed was how much I could actually do with her character design.
Her oversized earrings, for example, were always connected to her weapons, but I simplified them heavily in the original version because I couldn’t draw them consistently from page to page. The 1980s fashion aesthetic of Level 8 gave me an excuse to bring that idea back with bigger accessories and more exaggerated styling.
Her new outfit also leans heavily into 1980s fashion: bright heels, leg warmers, an asymmetrical top, bold accessories, and incredibly loud patterned leggings.
The biggest surprise was her hair.
I originally planned to give Tiffany red hair, but the color fought with the rest of the design. During a Twitch stream, I accidentally removed the hair color entirely. That mistake turned into an experiment with several different palettes until we landed on the grungy green ombré she has now.
Looking at the old and new designs side by side is especially satisfying because I can see the growth beyond anatomy and rendering. Her personality is much more visible now through her pose, clothing, color, and silhouette.
I shared the full redesign process, including the weapon earrings, the hair-color accident, and more behind-the-scenes details in the Adventurer’s Guild.
